How to Write a Successful Adoption Listing: Photo and Text Tips
A well-made listing greatly increases the chance that the animal finds a home sooner. Here is what works.
Photos – the most important part
- Shoot in daylight, at the animal's eye level
- Show the whole animal, not only the face
- Add at least 3–5 photos – in different poses and activities
- Avoid blurry, dark and in-cage photos
Title
Include the type, name and city – for example "Niki – a sweet puppy looking for a home in Plovdiv". This makes the listing clear to people and to search engines.
What to write in the description
- Age, sex, size and breed (or "mixed")
- Character – how it behaves with people, children, other animals
- Health – vaccinations, deworming, microchip, neutering
- Story – how it came to you
- Adoption conditions – for example "only to a house with a garden" or "not to be kept on a chain"
Contact
Leave a phone number and email that you really answer quickly. It is a good idea to require a personal meeting and to ask the future adopter questions.
When the animal has been adopted
Please delete the listing – this way people do not waste time and only see current animals. You can easily do it from the Delete your listing page with your email.
Publish a free listing and help one more animal find a home.
